Ashland Area Wood Carvers

Thank you for visiting this website and for your interest in my wild bird carvings. I am a full time professional bird carver and have been doing this work for several years.

All of my bird carvings are painstakingly hand carved from Basswood and depict the particular species in the most realistic manner with fine feather detail and natural poses. Each carving is nicely mounted, normally on selected pieces of prepared driftwood or weathered wood. Bases are created out of beautiful simulated stone or sometimes of stained and finished wood. Most customers prefer the simulated stone which has various color patterns and adds to the attractiveness of the finished piece.

I have carved dozens of different species for my collector customers as well as those created for art shows, group displays, etc. The familiar backyard birds are naturally the most often ordered, being the most popular, but I have carved many of the lesser known species for those who have certain ones in mind.

As a valued collectors item each carving is signed, dated then numbered for the particular species. This information is placed under the base.

The following prices are meant to be a general guideline. Usually, birds of a similar size are priced the same. Size normally dictates the price, although more involved natural features or intricate color patterns may vary the prices slightly.

$125.00- This price includes most of the smaller species like the Chickadee, Goldfinch, Indigo Bunting, most Warblers and other smaller species.

$140.00- Examples in this price category are the Eastern Bluebird, Downy Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, Tufted Titmouse, Nuthatch, And others of similar size.

$160.00- The Cardinal, Mockingbird, Baltimore Oriole, Towhee, and others of similar size will be in this price category.

$175.00- Includes most of the larger Woodpeckers like the Red Bellied, Redheaded, Hairy, and the Yellow Bellied Sapsucker. Also the common Robin, Mourning Dove, Brown Thrasher and others of similar size.

Many customers like to build collections of different species and want them spaced out so they will have from one to three created each month. Doing the orders in this manner often gives me a space of time so that if you want to order just one bird or two the order can often be done in a shorter period of time from three to four weeks.

Carvings that have to be shipped are carefully packaged then shipped Insured Priority Mail. The charge is $15.00.

Please call me for an exact price quote on any species you have in mind that is not listed above. I will be happy to talk over anything you may have in mind.
